Blake Shelton recalls his late brother Richie to 25-year anniversary of his death.

“Wow… 25 years ago today I lost my brother Richie Shelton. He is my hero is strong. I wish you all could have known him,” earth star tweeted on Friday.

Richie died in a car accident at 13. November 1990, at his home in Oklahoma. Blake was 14 years old at the time.

“I remember, you pick up the phone to call a week after he died, to say something. I picked up the phone to call to tell you something, I’m only on TV, or, and it was a constant surprise to me that he was dead,” said Shelton 60 minutes last year.

In the same interview also remembered Richie’s love of country music. “Your bedroom was only in the corridor from me when I was little. And he heard Hank Williams, Jr., or Waylon, Lynyrd Skynyrd or Bob Seeger. I just was really popular, Richie favorite music,” the voice coach said.

“And I like how it sits, man, this guy is my hero. This is the best man. He’s my brother.'”

Inspired by Richie, the ex Blake and Miranda Lambert co-wrote the song “Over you” in 2011. Lambert won the 2012 CMA Awards ” song of the year, as well as two ACM Awards in 2013 with the ballad.
