Patti Labelle: ‘I Lost Two sisters from lung cancer Within Two years’

Patti LaBelle-is that your voice in a different way these days.

Grammy is a collaboration with American lung Association LUNG FORCE initiative to raise awareness about the disease, and have a very personal reason why Labelle, partnership with the organization.

“I have two sisters, Vivien and Jackie, for lung cancer within two years of each other,” LaBelle, 71, tells PEOPLE. “They were both diagnosed in the early 40-ies, and after, left this planet in the course of the year. And I, too, have lost friends to the disease. So that’s me personally.”

Dancing with the stars alum from that it explains a lot of turquoise lately in support of the initiative of the misconceptions about lung cancer.

“I don’t think people know that you are the number 1 of cancer death of women from breast cancer, colorectal cancer and pancreatic cancer combined,” he adds, the gospel of the stars. “A woman dies every eight minutes in the U.S. from lung cancer. Summary: we can do everything to learn more about lung cancer and to bring something to the initiative.”
